4x4 Parts & Accessories in Blenheim
Kren Bits delivers 4x4 parts and accessories to Blenheim and the Wairau Plain: Rockarmor bullbars, RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 lift kits, winches, driving lights and rock sliders. We don't have a Blenheim shop. Kren Bits is an online-only New Zealand store, so you order on the website, the parts come to your door, and you fit them yourself or drop them off with your local mechanic. Our bars and suspension kits are bolt-on and ship with their fitting hardware, so they're within reach of a capable home mechanic or any Blenheim workshop.
4x4 parts delivered to Blenheim
Blenheim is Marlborough's biggest town, with 28,788 people at the 2023 census. It sits on the flat Wairau Plain where the Taylor and Ōpaoa rivers meet, with the Wither Hills rising on its southern edge and mountains on every side except the east, where the plain opens to Cook Strait. It's also one of the sunniest places in the country, averaging more than 2,500 sunshine hours a year, so summer driving here means dust and corrugations more often than mud.
Wine is the engine of the local economy. Marlborough grows about three-quarters of New Zealand's wine, and Blenheim is surrounded by vineyards from Renwick and Rapaura out to Fairhall and Riverlands. Add pastoral farming, the Woodbourne air base and the back-country roads of the Awatere and Molesworth, and utes here do vineyard rows on Monday and high-country gravel on Saturday. That mix is why Blenheim owners usually start with a strong front bar and a mild lift that keeps a loaded tray level.
Smaller parts reach Blenheim by courier, and bullbars travel by freight because of their size. Before anything is packed, tell us your make, model and year and we'll confirm the exact part number. Model-year mix-ups are the usual reason a bar or kit doesn't fit.
Check fitment yourself with the vehicle finder at the top of krenbits.com, or ring the Kren Offroad team on 021 288 6816.
Bullbars for Blenheim drivers
Our bullbars are made by Rockarmor, a steel bar range built around the utes and wagons Kiwis actually own. The Rockarmor GT Hoop swaps out the factory bumper for a powder-coated steel bar with hoops that protect the grille and headlights, and it has mounting points for a winch and driving lights. Every bar is shaped for one specific model rather than bolted on with a universal bracket.
Rockarmor bars that suit the trucks working around Blenheim and the Awatere:
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2020
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Ford Ranger PX2/PX3
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Isuzu D-Max 2020–2024
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Mitsubishi Triton MR
- Rockarmor Premium Bullbar: Nissan Navara D40 2005–2015
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota LandCruiser 200 2007–2015
Fitting a steel bar is a job for two people, but it isn't a hard one. The factory bumper comes off, the bar bolts to the chassis mounts, and the indicators and any parking sensors move across to the new bar. If you'd rather not do it in the driveway, any Blenheim mechanic or auto-electrician can fit it. Complete the front end with a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch and a pair of Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights for unlit roads such as SH63 up the Wairau.
Lift kits for Blenheim 4x4s
A steel bar and winch add weight over the front axle, so many Blenheim owners lift the suspension at the same time. We stock two lift kit brands.
RAW 4x4 is our first choice for modern utes and wagons. Each 2-inch (around 50mm) kit includes front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks, and you pick a load rating to match how the truck is used, from light vineyard work to towing a boat to Picton every weekend. Good RAW matches for Blenheim vehicles:
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2022
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Mitsubishi Triton MR/MV 2018–2024
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Isuzu D-Max 2012–2017
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Toyota LandCruiser 76/78/79 Series
Ultima 4x4 covers a lot of the older and less common 4x4s still doing farm and hunting duty around Marlborough, including:
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux LN110/160/170 1997–2005
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Nissan Navara D22 1999–2015
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Mitsubishi Pajero V7# 2000+
A lift kit bolts in, but it's much easier for a mechanic with a hoist, and it always needs a wheel alignment afterwards. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier before you fit them.
Popular 4x4s in Blenheim and the Wairau
Around Springlands and the Rapaura vineyards, the Toyota Hilux is everywhere. A Hilux bullbar for the N80 is the usual first upgrade, and owners of older trucks can choose the GT Hoop for the 2005–2011 N70 or a Hilux N70 lift kit.
The Ford Ranger is the other big name on vineyard and trade work, and a Ranger bullbar is a popular first buy. Triton owners have the MQ Triton GT Hoop for 2015–2018 trucks and the Triton lift kit for the later models. Navara D40 owners can lift with the RAW Navara kit, Mazda owners have the BT-50 lift kit for 2020-on utes, and Prado families heading for the Molesworth can fit the RAW Prado 150 kit or the Prado 150 GT Hoop.
4x4 tracks and off-road clubs around Blenheim
Acheron Road through Molesworth. Molesworth Station is described as New Zealand's largest farm, covering more than 180,000 hectares, and DOC has administered it since 2005. The public route through it is the Acheron Road, which DOC lists as 207km from Blenheim to Hanmer Springs, reached via SH1 and the Awatere Valley turn-off. It's unsealed, with potholes and corrugations, and open from 1 October until Easter Monday or the second Monday in April, whichever is later. Caravans, buses and vehicles over 7m aren't allowed, anyone towing a trailer needs an activity permit, and Wards Pass at 1,145m is often closed by snow. There's no fuel or mobile coverage, and the limit through the station is 50km/h.
Severn to Sedgemere 4WD road. For high-clearance trucks, DOC's Severn to Sedgemere road leaves the Acheron Road at Red Gate and runs 24km through Tarndale to the Sedgemere Sleepout. It opens only from 5 January to 24 February, between 7am and 7pm, and can close for weather or fire danger. DOC says drivers must be experienced at river crossings, there's no camping along the way, and a space-saver spare isn't suitable.
Black Birch Road (Awatere Valley). In the Ferny Gair and Black Birch conservation area, DOC limits off-road vehicles to the Black Birch Road 4WD track, which leaves Awatere Valley Road on the south side. The track crosses private farmland before it reaches conservation land, so stay on it, be considerate, and get landowner permission where it's required.
Forests and beaches. OneFortyOne manages much of the pine on the hills around the Wairau. Its access policy says most of its forests need a permit, access is generally weekends, public holidays and daylight only, and night-time entry is banned. Bartlett's Creek, Quartz Creek and Jubilee Flat on the Wairau Northbank are open without a permit unless closed for fire risk or storm damage. On the coast, the Council's East Coast Beach Vehicle Bylaw bans vehicles on the beaches from the Awatere River mouth to south of the Waima (Ure) River, apart from boat launching at Marfells Beach and Ward Beach, and utes don't count as ATVs under the exceptions.
Clubs. The Marlborough 4WD Club is the NZFWDA-affiliated club based in Blenheim. It describes itself as a family-friendly club with more than 50 years of history, running trips for all kinds of 4x4s through Marlborough's river valleys, alpine passes, native bush and the Sounds, and working with DOC on wilding pine control, hut support and clean-ups. Check the club's own website for meeting details.
Fitting your parts in Blenheim
Everything Kren Bits sells is designed for DIY fitting. Bars, sliders and lights come with mounting hardware and use the factory chassis points, so with a flat driveway, a socket set and a mate to lift, a bullbar is usually an afternoon's work.
Not keen to do it yourself? Your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or auto-electrician can fit everything we sell, and an auto-electrician is the best choice for winch wiring and light looms. Whoever fits your gear, book a wheel alignment after any suspension change and recheck the bolts after the first few hundred kilometres, particularly if those kilometres include the Acheron Road.
Blenheim 4x4 FAQs
Do you deliver to Blenheim?
Yes. We deliver right across Blenheim, including Springlands, Redwoodtown, Witherlea, Mayfield and Riversdale, and out to Renwick, Woodbourne, Fairhall, Grovetown, Spring Creek, Seddon and Picton. Smaller parts go by courier and bullbars by freight.
Do you have a store in Blenheim?
No. Kren Bits is online only and has no shopfronts anywhere in New Zealand. Order on the website, or talk to the team on 021 288 6816 or at sales@krenbits.com.
What's the most popular bullbar for Marlborough utes?
Across the store, our best-selling Rockarmor bars include the GT Hoop for the Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 and the Premium bar for the Navara D40, plus the GT Hoop range for the Hilux. All three are common sights around Blenheim.
Can I fit a bullbar or lift kit myself?
Yes, if you're handy. A bullbar is a two-person bolt-on job. A lift kit is more involved and easier with a hoist and spring compressors, and it always needs a wheel alignment afterwards.
Where can I get a lift kit fitted in Blenheim?
Any local mechanic or 4x4 workshop can fit our kits, because they're bolt-in and come with instructions. Have the kit delivered to your address and book it in with whoever services your vehicle.
Do lift kits need certification in New Zealand?
2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier before you buy.
