4x4 Parts & Accessories in Invercargill
Kren Bits delivers 4x4 parts and accessories to Invercargill and the farms and towns around it, including Rockarmor bullbars, RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 lift kits, rock sliders, winches and driving lights. We are an online-only New Zealand store with no Invercargill shopfront. You pick your parts on the website, they come to your door, and you either fit them yourself or take them to your local mechanic. The bars and kits we stock for Southland utes are bolt-on and come with their fitting hardware, so a practical owner or any local workshop can put them on.
4x4 parts delivered to Invercargill
Invercargill has an urban population estimated at about 51,200 in 2025. It sits on the Southland Plains, some of the most fertile farmland in the country, and much of the city's growth since the 2000s has come off the back of the dairy boom and the processing plants that came with it. Bluff, the region's port, is about 18km south, and across the harbour entrance at Tiwai Point is New Zealand's only aluminium smelter. With farm work, the port and weekends on the beach or up at the lakes, plenty of Invercargill drivers need a vehicle that handles more than town roads.
Wet paddocks, gravel roads and beach sand all reward a vehicle with a stronger front end and suspension that doesn't sag once it's loaded with a bar, a winch and a tray full of gear.
Orders to Invercargill travel by courier from our New Zealand network, and bullbars come by freight. Tell us your vehicle and we'll confirm the exact part number before we send anything.

Bullbars for Invercargill drivers
Our bullbars are built around Rockarmor, a steel bar range made to suit the vehicles on New Zealand farms and roads. The Rockarmor GT Hoop is a full replacement for the factory bumper, made from powder-coated steel, with hoops that protect the grille and headlights, mounting points for a winch and driving lights, and a fit designed for each model. Out on the plains at dusk, with stock on the road, that protection earns its place.
Rockarmor bars that suit the utes common around Invercargill and Southland:
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2020
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Ford Ranger PX2/PX3
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Isuzu D-Max 2020–2024
- Rockarmor Premium Bullbar: Nissan Navara D40 2005–2015
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Mitsubishi Triton MR
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota Hilux N70 2012–2015
Fitting a bar takes two people and a free afternoon. The factory bumper is removed, the bar bolts onto the chassis mounts, and the indicators and any parking sensors are swapped across. If you'd rather leave it to someone else, your local Invercargill mechanic or auto-electrician can fit it. Complete the setup with a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch and a pair of Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights for the long, dark winter evenings down south.
Lift kits for Invercargill 4x4s
A steel bar and winch add a lot of weight to the front axle, and soft sand and muddy farm tracks punish a ute that's sitting low. We sell two lift kit brands, each suited to different vehicles.
RAW 4x4 is our pick for modern utes. Each 2-inch (about 50mm) kit includes front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks, with load ratings so you can match the kit to a ute that's mostly empty or one that's towing and carrying every day. Popular choices for Southland:
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2022
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux N70 2005–2011
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Nissan Navara D40 2005–2015
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit: Mitsubishi Triton MR/MV 2018–2024
Ultima 4x4 covers older and less common four-wheel drives that are still doing farm and beach duty:
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux LN105/106 1989–1997
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Mazda Courier/B2600 1985–2006
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit: Nissan Navara D22 1999–2015
Lift kits bolt in, and a mechanic with a hoist will make short work of one. Book a wheel alignment afterwards. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles, but bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier first.
Popular 4x4s in Invercargill and Southland
Toyota Hilux utes of every generation still work Southland farms. N80 owners can pair a Hilux bullbar with a Hilux lift kit, earlier N70 trucks have their own 2005–2011 Hilux bullbar, and the older LN106 has an LN106 Hilux lift kit. Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 drivers can fit the Ranger bullbar, and the newer model has the Next Gen Ranger bullbar.
Nissan Navara D40 owners can choose the Navara bullbar and a Navara lift kit. For the Isuzu D-Max there's a D-Max bullbar, and Triton drivers can look at the Triton bullbar. Working LandCruisers are well served by the LandCruiser 79 lift kit.
4x4 tracks and off-road clubs around Invercargill
Ōreti Beach. Ōreti Beach runs for about 26km from the Sandy Point area towards Riverton, roughly 10km west of the city centre. It is where Burt Munro practised on his Indian motorcycle before his records at Bonneville, and each November the Burt Munro Challenge holds speed events on the beach straight. You can legally drive on Ōreti Beach, but Southland Police are clear that the beach is a road and normal road rules apply. The speed limit is 30km/h. The council bylaw says no vehicles, including motorbikes, are allowed on the sand dunes, and it rules out erratic driving and anything that breaks traction, such as doughnuts. Police warn that antisocial driving won't be tolerated, and in the school holidays the beach is busy with families, small children and animals, so drive as you would on a suburban street. The Dunns Road entrance has been closed to vehicles at times while contractors clear sand, so check before you head out.
Mavora Lakes Conservation Park. DOC puts Mavora about 1 hour 30 minutes' drive from Te Anau, reached on 39km of gravel road off SH94 at Centre Hill or Burwood Station, between Mossburn and Te Anau. A combination-locked gate sits at the start of the track along North Mavora Lake. Anyone taking a 4WD, quad or motorbike past it has to register online with DOC first; it's free, and the gate code comes with your confirmation. Print that or save it, because there's no internet coverage. DOC says the track to Careys Hut suits 4WDs, the routes to Boundary Hut and Forks Hut are too rough for vehicles, and no 4WDs are allowed beyond those huts. Drivers must be licensed and vehicles registered with a current WOF.
Eyre Mountains / Taka Ra Haka. In the Eyre Mountains, a four-wheel-drive road leaves the end of Irthing Road and climbs Mount Bee, then continues towards the upper Irthing and Cromel valleys. It crosses private land, and DOC says you need the landowner's approval with at least two days' notice before going in by vehicle or on foot. Access through Eyre Creek Station is closed indefinitely.
Clubs. The Southland Land Rover Club, based in Invercargill, is affiliated with the NZ Four Wheel Drive Association and meets in the city. The NZFWDA also lists Southern Mayhem as an affiliated Southland club. The Southern Trailblazers and the Clutha 4WD Club are described as family-focused groups dedicated to safe, responsible off-roading, and they have run 4WD trials demonstrations at the Southern Field Days at Waimumu, near Gore. A club is the best way onto private-land tracks you can't reach on your own.

Invercargill 4x4 FAQs
Do you deliver to Invercargill?
Yes. We deliver across Invercargill, including Waikiwi, Grasmere, Kew, Kingswell, Newfield, Hargest, Waverley and Clifton, and out to Bluff, Winton, Riverton and rural Southland addresses. Smaller parts travel by courier and bullbars by freight.
Do you have a store in Invercargill?
No. Kren Bits is online only, with no shop in Invercargill or anywhere else in New Zealand. Order through the website or call 021 288 6816 to check fitment.
What's the most popular bullbar for Southland utes?
Across the store, our best-selling Rockarmor bars include the GT Hoop for the Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 and the Premium bar for the Navara D40, plus the GT Hoop range for the Hilux. All three suit utes that are common in Southland.
Can I fit a bullbar or lift kit myself?
Yes, if you're handy with tools. A bullbar is a two-person bolt-on job. A lift kit is easier with a hoist and spring compressors and needs a wheel alignment afterwards.
Where can I get a lift kit fitted in Invercargill?
Your local mechanic or 4x4 workshop can fit a RAW 4x4 or Ultima 4x4 kit. Use whichever Invercargill workshop you already trust.
Do lift kits need certification in New Zealand?
2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier before you modify your vehicle.
