4x4 Parts & Accessories in Marlborough

Kren Bits delivers 4x4 parts and accessories across Marlborough, from Blenheim and the Wairau vineyards to Picton, Havelock and the Sounds, and south through the Awatere to Seddon. We stock Rockarmor bullbars, RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 lift kits, winches, rock sliders and driving lights. Kren Bits is an online-only New Zealand store with no shopfront in the region: you order online, we send the parts to your door, and you fit them yourself or take them to your local mechanic. Every bar and kit is bolt-on and comes with its fitting hardware.

Towns we deliver to in Marlborough

Marlborough had 49,431 people at the 2023 census, spread across more than 10,000 square kilometres. The country changes fast here: the flat, sunny Wairau Plain, the drowned valleys of the Marlborough Sounds on the north coast, and to the south the high, dry ranges that lead to the Kaikōura mountains and the Molesworth. The region grows about three-quarters of New Zealand's wine, and that means a lot of utes on vineyard, contracting and farm work.

  • Blenheim: Marlborough's largest town, on the Wairau Plain, and the starting point for the Acheron Road through Molesworth.

We also deliver to the smaller towns across the region:

  • Picton: about 25km north of Blenheim at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, where the Cook Strait ferries to Wellington berth. Handy if you're bringing a truck across from the North Island.
  • Renwick: 12km west of Blenheim on SH6, in the heart of the grape-growing country, and where SH63 branches off up the Wairau Valley towards St Arnaud.
  • Havelock: at the head of Pelorus Sound on SH6, the self-styled greenshell mussel capital of the world, with pine plantations all around the town.
  • Seddon: about 25km south of Blenheim on SH1 near the mouth of the Awatere River, a rural settlement where salt and lime production are the main industries, close to Lake Grassmere and the gateway to the Awatere Valley.

Smaller parts go by courier and bullbars by freight, including to rural and lifestyle-block addresses. Tell us your vehicle and we'll confirm the exact part number before anything is sent. Use the vehicle finder at the top of krenbits.com, or call the Kren Offroad team on 021 288 6816.

Bullbars for Marlborough utes

Our bullbars come from Rockarmor, a steel range built for the utes and wagons New Zealanders drive. The GT Hoop is a full bumper replacement in powder-coated steel, with hoops that protect the grille and headlights, mounts for a winch and driving lights, and a fit made for each model. Whether it's stock on a back road in the Awatere or a dawn run to the Picton ferry, it's solid front-end protection.

A bullbar is a two-person bolt-on job: the factory bumper comes off, the bar bolts to the chassis mounts, and the lights and sensors move across. If you'd rather not, any local mechanic or auto-electrician can fit it. Add a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch and Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights to finish the front end, and look at Hilux N80 rock sliders if you're heading into rocky river country.

Lift kits for Marlborough 4x4s

RAW 4x4 2-inch (about 50mm) kits suit modern utes and wagons. Each kit includes front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks, with load options to match how the truck is used. Popular picks include the Hilux N80 kit, the Navara D40 kit, the Mazda BT-50 2020+ kit and the Prado 150 kit.

Ultima 4x4 covers older and less common 4x4s, such as the Hilux LN105/106, the Mazda Courier/B2600 and the VW Amarok.

Every lift needs a wheel alignment afterwards. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier.

4x4 tracks and clubs across Marlborough

Molesworth Recreation Reserve. DOC's Molesworth brochure puts the reserve at about 180,787 hectares, roughly the size of Stewart Island. The Acheron Road crosses it on the way from Blenheim to Hanmer Springs, with the gates open 7am to 7pm in the open season, which starts on 1 October. No permit is needed to drive it during the open period, but trailers need one, and camping is only at Molesworth Cob Cottage and the Acheron Accommodation House. Off-road driving is prohibited, dogs must stay in vehicles, and fires aren't allowed. For a harder drive, the 4WD-only Severn to Sedgemere road opens for a short summer window each year.

Rainbow Road from the Wairau. SH63 from Renwick runs up the Wairau Valley towards St Arnaud, the northern end of the Rainbow Road to Hanmer. DOC's brochure lists it as 112km and 4WD only, though 2WD vehicles can reach Lake Tennyson. A toll applies from 26 December to 1 May, and outside the toll season the gates at Hell's Gate and Six Mile are locked. Rainbow Station's permission is needed to drive it.

Awatere Valley and Black Birch. On the south side of the Awatere, DOC confines off-road vehicles in the Ferny Gair and Black Birch area to the Black Birch Road 4WD track, which crosses private land before reaching conservation land. Stay on the track, and check Marlborough District Council and Kaikōura District road alerts first, because storms have damaged roads in the area.

Forests, Sounds roads and the east coast. OneFortyOne's forests around the Wairau mostly need a permit, with access generally limited to weekends, public holidays and daylight. Its Wairau Northbank picnic areas at Bartlett's Creek, Quartz Creek and Jubilee Flat are open without one unless closed. After the mid-2025 storms, DOC reported several Marlborough Sounds and Mount Richmond Forest Park access roads closed, so check alerts before heading out. On the coast south of the Awatere River, the East Coast Beach Vehicle Bylaw keeps vehicles off most beaches, and the High Court dismissed a judicial review of it in early 2025.

Clubs. The Marlborough 4WD Club, based in Blenheim, is the region's NZFWDA-affiliated club. It says it has been running for more than 50 years, offers new members orientation and mentoring, and works with DOC on conservation jobs such as wilding pine removal and hut support.

Fitting your parts

Kren Bits parts are designed for DIY. They bolt to factory mounts and come with the hardware, so you can fit them at home with a helper, or take them to your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or auto-electrician anywhere in Marlborough. Book a wheel alignment after any suspension work, and recheck the bolts after your first long gravel trip.

Marlborough 4x4 FAQs

Do you deliver across Marlborough?

Yes. We deliver to Blenheim, Picton, Renwick, Havelock, Seddon and rural addresses in between. Bullbars travel by freight and smaller parts by courier.

Do you have a store in Marlborough?

No. Kren Bits is online only, with no shopfronts. Order at krenbits.com or call 021 288 6816.

What's the most popular bullbar?

Across the whole store, our best-selling Rockarmor bars include the GT Hoop for the Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 and the Premium bar for the Navara D40, along with the GT Hoop range for the Toyota Hilux.

Do I need a 4WD for the Molesworth?

Not for the Acheron Road itself, which DOC says suits 2WD cars in the open season. The Severn to Sedgemere road and the Rainbow Road beyond Lake Tennyson are 4WD only, and a lift and good tyres help on both.

Do lift kits need certification?

2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier.
