Towns we deliver to in Northland

Northland is home to about 201,000 people, and farming and forestry take up more than half of its land. Beef and sheep farms, big pine forests and orchards of avocados, kūmara and kiwifruit keep a lot of utes working on gravel and clay roads. Whangārei is the main centre:

We also deliver to every smaller Northland town, including:

  • Kerikeri: the Far North's biggest town, home of the Stone Store, and base of the Bay of Islands 4x4 Club.
  • Kaitaia: the last major town on State Highway 1, about 5km from Ahipara and the southern end of Ninety Mile Beach, with forestry and dairy country all around.
  • Dargaville: New Zealand's kūmara capital on the Northern Wairoa River, about 13km from Ripirō Beach and home of the Kauri Coast 4WD Club.
  • Kaikohe: the base of the Far North District Council; the Whangarei 4WD Club has run jamborees in the Kaikohe area.
  • Paihia: on the Bay of Islands about 60km north of Whangārei, with Waitangi just up the road.
  • Ruakākā: on Bream Bay south of Whangārei, where beach driving rules have been under review in 2026.
  • One Tree Point: on the southern side of Whangārei Harbour, home to the Marsden Point Marina.
  • Mangawhai: on Mangawhai Harbour in the Kaipara District, where the township grew by almost 29% between 2018 and 2023.

Bullbars travel by freight and smaller parts by courier. Tell us your vehicle and we'll confirm the part number before anything is sent. Use the vehicle finder at krenbits.com or call 021 288 6816.

Bullbars for Northland utes

Our bullbar range centres on Rockarmor, a steel bar built model by model for the trucks Kiwis drive. The GT Hoop is a powder-coated steel replacement for the factory bumper, with hoops that protect the grille and headlights and mounts for a winch and lights. On Northland's unlit rural roads, that protection matters.

Add a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch for soft sand and slippery clay, and Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights for night runs. Hilux N80 owners heading into rough country can add Rockarmor rock sliders.

Lift kits for Northland 4x4s

RAW 4x4 2-inch kits suit modern utes and wagons, with front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks matched to your load. Ultima 4x4 covers older and less common models.

Every lift kit needs a wheel alignment after fitting. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles; bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier.

4x4 tracks and clubs across Northland

Te Oneroa-a-Tōhē / Ninety Mile Beach. Running about 88km north from near Ahipara, the beach is officially a public highway. Since late 2023 the speed limit has been 30km/h within 200 metres of access points and 60km/h elsewhere. Check tide times first: at high tide the beach narrows to nothing in places. The Kaitaia 4WD Club is the local NZFWDA-affiliated club.

Ripirō Beach. West of Dargaville, the 107km Ripirō is described as New Zealand's longest driveable beach. It is classed as a road, with 30km/h zones near the main entrances such as Glinks Gully, Baylys Beach and Pouto. The Kauri Coast 4WD Club sits on the multi-agency group that helps manage it.

Bream Bay and the east coast. Whangārei District Council's beach bylaw covers Ruakākā, Uretiti and the rest of the district's coast. In 2026 the council consulted on new vehicle exclusion zones at Uretiti south of Tip Road, Ōakura, Bland Bay, Woolleys Bay, Matapōuri and Whangaumu, with a decision due in November 2026. Northland Regional Council rules also keep vehicles off shellfish beds, bird nesting sites and native plants on beaches across the region.

Forestry. Most of Northland's forest country, such as the Aupōuri Forest north of Kaitaia, needs a forestry access permit from the forest manager, mostly Rayonier Matariki Forests.

Clubs. NZFWDA-affiliated clubs in Northland include the Whangarei 4WD Club, Northland Family Four Wheelers (Glenbervie), the Kauri Coast 4WD Club (Dargaville), the Bay of Islands 4x4 Club (Kerikeri), the Kaitaia 4WD Club and the Port Valley 4x4 Club.

Fitting your parts

Kren Bits parts are designed for DIY. A bullbar is a two-person bolt-on job, and a lift kit is a bolt-in job with a hoist or good axle stands. If you would rather not do it yourself, take your parts to your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or auto-electrician anywhere in Northland. Always book a wheel alignment after suspension work.
