Installation notes
- Torque to spec, then re-check at 500km: Chassis bolts settle after the first few hundred kilometres of corrugations. Note your torque values, then go back over every fastener once the truck has done a decent shakedown run.
- Corrosion prep: Wherever you drill or expose bare metal, treat it. A dab of cold galv or anti-rust primer on every cut edge and bolt hole stops surface rust creeping under the coating — non-negotiable for a coastal or West Coast truck.

- After every serious trip, hose the bar down — especially after beach runs or salt-laden coast roads — and check for chips in the coating, touching up any bare metal straight away.
- Every few months, run a spanner over the chassis bolts and tongue fasteners to confirm nothing has worked loose on the corrugations.
- Once a year, pull the towbar tongue, clean the receiver, give it a light grease and check the anti-rattle hardware so it slides cleanly and locks up tight.
- Inspect any rated recovery points before you actually need them — look for elongated holes, cracked welds or deformed steel, and retire anything that looks tired rather than trusting it under load.
