4x4 Parts & Accessories in Auckland
Kren Bits delivers 4x4 parts and accessories across Auckland, from the North Shore to Papakura: Rockarmor bullbars, RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 lift kits, rock sliders, winches and driving lights. We are an online-only New Zealand store, so there is no Auckland showroom to visit. You order online, we deliver to your home or work, and you fit the parts yourself or take them to your local mechanic. Our bullbars and lift kits are bolt-on, come with their fitting hardware, and are made for the utes and wagons Aucklanders actually drive.
4x4 parts delivered to Auckland
Auckland is New Zealand's biggest city by a long way, with more than 1.5 million people in the urban area, roughly 29% of the country. The city is squeezed onto a narrow isthmus between the Waitematā and Manukau harbours, with the Waitākere Ranges to the west and the Hunua Ranges to the southeast. A 4x4 here does a bit of everything: commuting over the Harbour Bridge or down the Southern Motorway during the week, towing a boat to the ramp on Saturday, and heading for the west coast sand or a forest trip with the club on Sunday.
That mixed use is why Auckland owners tend to want a bullbar that looks right in the city but still protects the front end off-road, and a lift that copes with a towbar load without making the truck harsh on the motorway.
Orders to Auckland go by courier, and bullbars travel by freight. Tell us your vehicle and we'll confirm the exact part number before anything is sent; getting the model year right matters, because bars and kits often change between facelifts of the same ute.

Bullbars for Auckland drivers
Our bullbar range is built on Rockarmor, a steel bar designed around the trucks New Zealanders drive. The Rockarmor GT Hoop is a full replacement for the factory bumper in powder-coated steel, with hoops that protect the grille and headlights and mounting points for a winch and driving lights. Each bar is made for a specific model, so it fits the chassis properly instead of relying on generic brackets.
Rockarmor bars that suit Auckland utes and wagons:
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Ford Ranger PX2/PX3
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2020
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota Prado 150 Series 2009–2015
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Toyota LandCruiser 200 2007–2015
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar: Isuzu D-Max 2020–2024
- Rockarmor Premium Bullbar: Nissan Navara D40 2005–2015
Fitting a steel bar takes two people and a free afternoon. The factory bumper comes off, the bar bolts to the chassis mounts, and the indicators and any parking sensors are moved across. If you would rather not do it on the driveway, any Auckland mechanic or auto-electrician can fit it. For recovery on soft west coast sand, add a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch, and finish the front end with Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights.
Lift kits for Auckland 4x4s
A bullbar, winch and a boat on the towbar add up to a lot of weight, and factory suspension is not built for it. We stock two lift kit brands to cover new and older vehicles.
RAW 4x4 kits are our pick for modern utes and wagons. Each 2-inch (about 50mm) kit includes front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks, with load options for a mostly unladen commuter or a truck that tows every weekend. Popular choices in Auckland:
- RAW 4x4 2-inch Lift Kit: Toyota Prado 150 Series 2009–2023
- RAW 4x4 2-inch Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2022
- RAW 4x4 2-inch Lift Kit: Mazda BT-50 2020+
- RAW 4x4 2-inch Lift Kit: Mitsubishi Triton MR/MV 2018–2024
Ultima 4x4 kits cover older and less common models, including some popular Auckland wagons and utes:
- Ultima 2-inch Lift Kit: VW Amarok 2010–2024
- Ultima 2-inch Lift Kit: Toyota FJ Cruiser 2006–2010
- Ultima 2-inch Lift Kit: Toyota Hilux Surf 180 Series 1996–2002
A lift kit is a bolt-in job for a mechanic with a hoist, and it always needs a wheel alignment afterwards. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles; bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier first.
Popular 4x4s in Auckland
The Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux are the default Auckland ute, whether it is a tradie's work truck or a weekend boat tower. Ranger owners can choose the Ranger PX2/PX3 bullbar, and Hilux owners have the Hilux N80 bullbar, the Hilux lift kit and Hilux rock sliders.
Family wagons are a big part of Auckland's 4x4 scene. The Prado 150 bullbar and Prado lift kit suit owners who tow a caravan or boat, and the LandCruiser 200 bullbar fits the big Toyota. D-Max, Triton and Navara drivers are covered too, with the D-Max bullbar, the Triton MQ bullbar and the Navara D40 lift kit. For older club trucks, look at the LandCruiser FJ80 rock sliders.
4x4 tracks and off-road clubs around Auckland
Woodhill Forest. About 12,500 hectares of commercial pine forest on the South Kaipara Head, running from Muriwai to north of South Head. Recreational areas are managed by Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, and 4WD use, like the forest's other activities, requires a permit. A dedicated 4WD park set up inside the forest in 2008 covers around 2,250 acres of sand hills and clay, with trails from easy to very demanding; check it is open and book before you go. Woodhill is also a regular trip venue for the Auckland Four Wheel Drive Club.
Muriwai Beach. About 42km northwest of the city, Muriwai sits at the southern end of a 50km run of west coast sand. It is one of only two Auckland beaches open to general driving, and you need an Auckland Council beach driving permit, renewed each year, plus a licence and a registered, warranted vehicle. Speed limits are 30km/h near the Coast Road, Rimmer Road and Wilson Road access points and 60km/h elsewhere, and driving is limited to three hours either side of low tide. In recent summers the council has closed the beach to vehicles over the peak holiday period, from 31 December to 13 January.
Riverhead Forest. A roughly 4,800-hectare working pine forest behind Riverhead at the top of the Waitematā Harbour. Access is gated, and 4WD trips run as organised, permitted group events rather than open public driving. Tracks turn to deep mud in winter, so a winch and recovery gear earn their place.
South: Waiuku Forest and Karioitahi. For South and East Auckland drivers, Waiuku Forest is another Auckland Four Wheel Drive Club venue, and nearby Karioitahi Beach is Auckland's other permitted driving beach, with a 20km/h limit within a kilometre of Karioitahi Road.
Clubs. The region has a long list of NZFWDA-affiliated clubs. The Auckland Four Wheel Drive Club was formed in 1969 and runs family-friendly trips from beginner to competition level. Others include Shore 4 Wheelers, based on the North Shore; the Land Rover Owners Club (Auckland); the NZ Jeep Club in Waitākere; Counties 4 Wheelers in Papakura; the Manukau Four Wheel Drive Club; Norwest OHV Club in Kumeū; the Road Less Travelled Club; and Wilderness Ridge Riders. A club membership is the easiest way into forest blocks and private land.
Fitting your parts in Auckland
Kren Bits parts are designed for DIY. A bullbar is a bolt-on job for two people, and a lift kit is a bolt-in job with a hoist or good axle stands. If you would rather hand it over, take your parts to your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or auto-electrician anywhere in Auckland. Book a wheel alignment after any suspension work.

Bullbars go by freight and smaller parts by courier.
Do you have a store in Auckland?
No. Kren Bits is an online-only store with no shopfront in Auckland or anywhere else. For help choosing a part, call 021 288 6816 or email sales@krenbits.com.
What's the most popular bullbar for Auckland utes?
Store-wide, our best-selling Rockarmor bars include the GT Hoop for the Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 and the Premium bar for the Nissan Navara D40, plus the GT Hoop range for the Toyota Hilux.
Can I fit a bullbar or lift kit myself?
Yes, if you are handy with tools. Bullbars bolt to the existing chassis mounts with the supplied hardware, and a second pair of hands helps lift the bar into place. Lift kits need a hoist or solid stands and a wheel alignment afterwards.
Where can I get a lift kit fitted in Auckland?
Take it to your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or suspension specialist. RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 kits are standard bolt-in jobs, so any competent workshop can fit them and align the vehicle afterwards.
Do lift kits need certification in New Zealand?
2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier.
