4x4 Parts & Accessories in Feilding
Kren Bits delivers 4x4 parts and accessories to Feilding and the farm country of the northern Manawatū, including Rockarmor bullbars, RAW 4x4 and Ultima 4x4 lift kits, rock sliders, winches and driving lights. There's no Kren Bits shop in Feilding. We're an online-only New Zealand store, so you order on the website, we send the parts to you, and you fit them yourself or take them to your local mechanic. Our bullbars and lift kits are bolt-on, come with their fitting hardware, and suit the farm utes that do the heavy lifting around the district.
4x4 parts delivered to Feilding
Feilding is a farming town of about 17,000 people (16,929 at the 2023 census), on State Highway 54 roughly 20km north of Palmerston North. It sits on the fertile floodplain of the Manawatū Plains, and it has never stopped being a rural service town. The Feilding Saleyards have run in the middle of town for more than 125 years, one of the few small-town saleyards of their kind left in New Zealand, and each March the Central Districts Field Days bring more than 27,000 people to Manfeild, the motor racing circuit on the southern edge of town, for three days of farm machinery and agribusiness.
The town has won New Zealand's Most Beautiful Town award 16 times and has no traffic lights, but the utes parked outside the saleyards tell the real story. They carry dogs and fencing gear, tow stock trailers, and head up the Oroua and Pohangina valleys toward the Ruahine Range. That's the kind of work where a bullbar and a lift kit pay for themselves.
We deliver across Feilding, including the Kimbolton and Makino areas, plus Halcombe, Bunnythorpe, Cheltenham and rural addresses north to Āpiti and Rangiwahia. Smaller parts travel by courier and bullbars go by freight. Tell us your vehicle and we'll confirm the part number before it ships, so you don't end up with a bar for the wrong model year.

Bullbars for Feilding drivers
We sell Rockarmor bullbars, a steel range designed for the utes and wagons New Zealanders actually run. The Rockarmor GT Hoop replaces the factory bumper with a powder-coated steel bar, with hoops that protect the grille and headlights, mounting points for a winch and driving lights, and brackets made for each model.
Rockarmor bullbars that suit the farm utes around Feilding:
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar — Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2020
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar — Toyota Hilux N70 2012–2015
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar — Ford Ranger PX2/PX3
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar — Mitsubishi Triton MR
- Rockarmor GT Hoop Bullbar — Isuzu D-Max 2020–2024
- Rockarmor Premium Bullbar — Nissan Navara D40 2005–2015
Fitting a steel bar is a two-person job, not a difficult one. The original bumper comes off, the bar bolts onto the chassis mounts, and the indicators and any parking sensors move across. If you'd rather not do it in the shed, any Feilding mechanic or auto-electrician can fit it. To finish the front end, add a Rockarmor 12,000lb winch for wet hill country and Phantom 9-inch LED driving lights for early starts on the back roads.
Lift kits for Feilding 4x4s
A steel bar and winch add a lot of weight up front, and a farm ute with a dog box and a loaded deck sags at the rear. Fitting a lift kit with the bar brings back the ride height and the load capacity. We sell two brands.
RAW 4x4 kits suit modern utes. Each 2-inch (around 50mm) kit includes front coils, rear leaf springs and nitrogen-charged shocks, with load ratings to match how the truck is used, from mostly empty to loaded and towing every day. Good matches for Feilding vehicles:
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit — Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2022
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit — Toyota Hilux N70 2005–2011
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit — Toyota LandCruiser 76/78/79 Series
- RAW 4x4 2" Lift Kit — Isuzu D-Max 2012–2017
Ultima 4x4 covers the older trucks still earning their keep on Manawatū farms:
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit — Toyota Hilux LN105/106 1989–1997
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit — Nissan Navara D22 1999–2015
- Ultima 2" Lift Kit — Mazda Courier/B2600 1985–2006
A lift kit bolts in, but it's best done on a hoist, and it always needs a wheel alignment afterwards. 2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles; bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier first.
Popular 4x4s in Feilding and the northern Manawatū
The Toyota Hilux is the backbone of Feilding's farm fleet, from new N80s to N70s and older LN models. A Hilux bullbar and Hilux lift kit are the usual pair for the newer trucks, and the GT Hoop for the Hilux N70 2005–2011 covers the earlier ones. The Ford Ranger is just as common, and the Ranger bullbar for the PX2/PX3 suits it.
The LandCruiser 70 series is a favourite for steep hill country, and the LandCruiser 76/78/79 lift kit suits it. Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Navara owners are covered too, with the Triton MR/MV lift kit, the Navara D40 lift kit and the bars above.
4x4 tracks and off-road clubs around Feilding
The western Ruahine road ends. Feilding is the natural jumping-off point for the western side of Ruahine Forest Park. DOC's access notes send you through Kimbolton and Rangiwahia to Renfrew Road for the Rangiwahia Hut and Deadmans tracks, and up Āpiti Road and Oroua Valley Road toward East Mangahuia Bowling Road. Table Flat Road leads to Limestone Road, with a DOC car park at the road end for the Mid-Pohangina Valley, and to Petersons Road for the Oroua Valley. These are access roads to car parks and road ends, not 4WD tracks, and DOC doesn't publish road conditions for them, so check with the Palmerston North office if the weather has been bad.
Takapari Road (Pohangina Valley). For a real climb, Takapari Road leaves Pohangina Valley East Road beyond Ashhurst, past Totara Reserve. It rises through farmland to a gate at the forest park boundary, then about 11km to A-Frame Hut and another 6km along the ridge to the road end. DOC says it's open to vehicles but not maintained, standard road rules apply, and conditions up top can be extreme. Go with a second vehicle and turn back if it's wet.
Rangiwahia trials. The hill country north of Feilding has hosted competitive 4x4 trials. In January 2020 a property on Rangiwahia Road hosted a Northern Zone round of the national trials series, with a Manawatū member of the Wanganui 4WD Club as host. Trials and club days like this are the safest way to see what a 4x4 can do on steep farmland.
42 Traverse. Further afield, the 42 Traverse in the Tongariro Forest near National Park Village is the classic central North Island trip. DOC allows 4WDs only from 1 December to 30 April, a large landslip means you can drive either end but not the full 46km, and it's graded advanced, so take recovery gear.
Clubs. The NZ Four Wheel Drive Association lists the Central Districts club with a Feilding address on Junction Road North, and the Manawatu 4WD Club in Palmerston North, which meets at the Willowpark Tavern. Contact details for both are on the NZFWDA club directory. A club is the best way onto private farm and station country.
Fitting your parts in Feilding
Our parts are made for DIY fitting, and every bullbar and lift kit comes with its fitting hardware. If you'd rather not do it yourself, take the parts to your local mechanic, 4x4 workshop or auto-electrician. Fitting a bar and wiring in lights or a winch is everyday work for them. After any suspension job, book a wheel alignment before you head back out.

What's the most popular bullbar for Manawatū utes?
Store-wide, the best-selling Rockarmor bars include the GT Hoop for the Ford Ranger PX2/PX3 and the Premium bar for the Navara D40, plus the GT Hoop range for the Hilux.

Any local mechanic or 4x4 workshop can fit it. Have the kit delivered to you, then book it in with your usual mechanic.
Do lift kits need certification in New Zealand?
2-inch kits are chosen to stay within normal road-legal limits for most vehicles. Bigger lifts, body lifts or oversized tyres may need LVV certification, so check with a certifier.
