Projecta's most powerful pure sine wave inverter, the IP2000 offers all the class leading features of the Intelli-Wave range with the added benefit of a sophisticated AC transfer switch. Offering ultra clean power delivery and rugged construction, it is ideally suited to the demanding requirements of running larger appliances often found in house boats, yachts, motor homes, caravans and so on.

We consider this inverter a budget choice for a larger 12V inverter. It is considerably cheaper than the Latronics LS2012, still offers 2 years warranty, and also comes standard with the AC transfer switch (please note that Latronics offer an AC transfer switch as an option on all LS inverters). The remote digital display gives you control over the inverter operating mode (ECO & on/off) and lets you know the instantaneous power consumption helping with preserving battery capacity. The automatic AC transfer switch allows easy and automatic change-over to Mains power on caravan parks or jetties. The features make this inverter an economic and user-friendly solution for mobile power installations. This inverter would also be suitable for making your own UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply).

When considering what size of appliances this inverter can power, please bear in mind that purely resistive loads are very rare these days (eg the light bulb with fillament wire). Most appliances are either capacitive or inductive. That means that you can't use an appliance that has "2000W" on the name plate with this inverter. Inductive loads/appliances can draw up to 10 times their rated power when starting - so you need to use an inverter with a "peak power" capacity of at least the starting power of your appliance. This includes fridges, power tools, battery chargers, air conditioners, pumps, fluro lights etc. Capacitive loads such as old style TV's require large surge currents to charge their capacitors. Resetting the inverter several times may allow this type of appliance to work. For more information, please download the manual which has more detailed information.

AC Transfer Switch:

The Projecta 2000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter includes a built in automatic AC Transfer Switch. The switch allows an appliance to be powered from either mains power or the inverter (battery power). The inclusion of the AC transfer makes it ideal for permanent installation into caravans, motor homes, work vehicles etc ensuring a quick transfer of AC power when switching from battery power to mains power and vice versa. The automatic change-over function means there is no need to manually swap over AC plugs or be switching dials between the two power sources.

To ensure a continuous flow of power to the appliance when switching to mains power supply, the IP2000 has been engineered to wait 3 seconds for the power to be steady before switching in a super fast 20 millisecond (0.02seconds) change-over. This guarantees smooth change over and minimises interruption when running appliances, e.g. most TVs won't switch off etc. The IP2000 offers a number of advantages over a typical inverter/charger combination. Keeping the two units independent of one another allows you to combine the IP2000 with any size battery charger for the ultimate and tailor made set-up, and because they are two separate units either can operate without the other in the event that one fails. When mains power is available, the battery charger charges the battery and the mains power passes through the inverter and powers the accessories directly. When the mains is disconnected the battery charger stops working and the appliance automatically switches across to inverter power.
